Biographical Data
Richard Braithwaite taught 30 years at The Savannah Country Day School where he created an environment for intellectual excellence to flourish. He was an award winning theatre director and founder of Theatre 15, one of Georgia's perennial powerhouse programs. He coached football with the legendary Bill Saunders, and won State Champions both with his theatre program and as a soccer coach. He ran the award winning literary magazine Amanuensis for over twenty years and has produced former students such as Rhodes Scholar Melissa Sydeman, Princeton Professor Anne Cheng, and best-selling writer Bruce Feiler.
He now runs The Braithwaite Learning Center, is working on a novel, is working on a book about teaching, and writes freelance for such magazines as Savannah Magazine, South Magazine, and Hilton Head Monthly.
